GV Link is being built on a superb 331 hectare green field site on Toolamba Road, two kilometres south of the Midland Highway at Mooroopna, 4.7 kilometres south west of Shepparton. Current and proposed road and rail infrastructure will enable easy site access now and into the future.
Greater Shepparton serves as a significant hub for industry, employment and services, catering to a wide catchment of around 230,000 people. This catchment includes not only the inhabitants of towns and rural settlements within Greater Shepparton but also those in the nearby Moira, Campaspe, Strathbogie and southern New South Wales municipalities.
Located on both the Goulburn and Broken Rivers, Greater Shepparton is a crucial regional centre for agriculture production. It is commonly referred to as the ‘Food Bowl of Australia’, and the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District, which contributes up to 25% of Victoria's total value of agricultural production. The region has a strong focus on exports and is expected to grow substantially in the future.
GV Link is located at the intersection of two significant road networks in central Victoria, namely the Goulburn Valley Highway and Midland Highway. This strategic location makes GV Link an important transportation hub for the region, connecting various destinations and facilitating movement of people and goods.
Major roadworks being planned or undertaken in the Goulburn Valley will streamline access to GV Link and cut travel times in and out of the region:
The proposed route for the Goulburn Valley Highway bypass of Shepparton, anticipated to be constructed within the decade, will pass directly through the highway reserve on the GV Link site.
The Midland Highway, just two kilometres north of GV Link, offers easy east-west road connections through to Benalla and Bendigo.
GV Link envisions a true intermodal terminal, with freight seamlessly arriving by the western side of the facility by road and leaving to the east by rail from modern new purpose-built rail sidings.
This will enable freight to be transported by rail, thereby reducing congestion on roads and improving the overall efficiency of the transportation system. The use of modern rail sidings will also ensure that the loading and unloading of freight is done in a safe and timely manner.
GV Link is a place where optimal functionality meets beautiful industrial design.
Environmentally Sustainable Design and best practice urban design principles have been embedded in the design process from the outset and include:
GV Link is positioned to become an industrial centre of great pride to the Goulburn Valley region and one of national repute.
Council has entered into a lease agreement with GVCE Mooroopna Solar Pty Ltd to develop a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) plant proposed for a 30 hectare site on Greater Shepparton City Council owned land at 250 Toolamba Rd, Mooroopna, Victoria.
The proposed solar farm will produce clean, green electricity for the Goulburn Valley region and aims to yield direct energy related benefits to the GV Link site.
